The Russian Flagship is a federally funded program that provides multiple scholarship opportunities for students in good standing. Flagship scholarships are intended to offset the cost of language training during the summer and the Capstone Year. These scholarships do not cover the entire cost of the Flagship training, therefore Russian Flagship students are encouraged to apply for a variety of other scholarships – both external and administered by IU – to support their Russian language study during the academic year and summer.
IU Flagship students in the recent past have had success in obtaining scholarship awards due to the prestige and academic rigor associated with being in a Flagship program. Flagship students are known to have a high level of achievement and are academically driven—qualities that give Flagship applicants an advantage in their application for scholarships.
