Russian Flagship Scholarships

Flagship student support is merit-based and administered through the IU Russian Flagship program. Russian Flagship students can receive up to $15,000 in student support during their time in the Flagship program.

In January, Russian flagship students receive an email from the IU Russian Flagship administration inviting them to fill out a Flagship Funding Request Form. Then the applications are reviewed by the selection committee. In April, students selected for Flagship Funding receive award letters, after which funds are transferred to student bursar accounts.

As of 2024-2025, we are authorized to award:

• Up to $5,000 for an approved domestic summer language program
• Up to $10,000 for an approved pre-capstone study abroad program 

Flagship student support is awarded primarily for the following programs:

ROTC funding

Contracted ROTC cadets in good standing are eligible to receive Flagship scholarships that cover all costs associated with participating in the Russian Flagship. Non-contracted ROTC cadets (cadets who have not signed a contract with ROTC and are not receiving ROTC scholarships) are subject to the standard Flagship student support terms outlined above.
