The Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships are funded by the United States Department of Education in support of students studying less commonly taught languages and cultures. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Academic year FLAS awards include a $5,000 stipend plus a maximum tuition award of $10,000 (or actual tuition if lower).
The Daniel Armstrong Memorial Scholarship
Deadline: After completing freshman admissions application
Administered through the IU Russian and East European Institute, the Daniel Armstrong Memorial Scholarship is intended to support incoming freshmen committed to studying Russian or an East European language throughout their undergraduate career. One Armstrong Scholarship of at least $1,500 is awarded annually and can be renewed for up to four years.
