Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) FellowshipsDeadline: Early February
The Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships are funded by the United States Department of Education in support of students studying less commonly taught languages and cultures both domestically and overseas. These awards are intended to promote the training of students who plan to make careers in college or university teaching, government service, or other employment where knowledge of foreign languages, societies, and cultures is a prerequisite for success. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Academic year FLAS fellowships are granted for full-time study at U.S. or foreign institutions. Summer FLAS fellowships are awarded to students who pursue intensive domestic or overseas summer language studies.
The Daniel Armstrong Memorial ScholarshipDeadline: End of January
Administered through the Russian and East European Institute at Indiana University in Bloomington, the Daniel Armstrong Memorial Scholarship is intended to support incoming freshmen committed to pursue study of Russian throughout their undergraduate career, and who has a record of academic excellence. Incoming IU students who want to pursue the Russian Flagship training at IU, are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.
