A native of Armenia, Ani Abrahamyan moved to the U.S. in 2007. She completed her BA in Communications/Advertising at Lee University (Cleveland, TN), and is currently pursuing a PhD in Russian Literature. In her dissertation she examines representations of criminalized and disenfranchised communities in the nineteenth-century Russian Empire.
Ani has been teaching Russian at Indiana University since 2017, and received the Jerzy Kolodziej Excellence in Teaching Award and Hamilton Lugar School Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2020. In addition to her passion for teaching, Ani’s interests include running, hiking, photography, and pottery.
